12 Years of 3 Idiots: Omi Vaidya terms Aamir Khan Starrer 3 Idiots a curse, says, “The film is a curse that I have to deal with”
Rajkumar Hirani directed 3 Idiots completed 12 years of the release today. The film headlined by Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi was a blockbuster hit. The film takes us through the journey of these three friends from their engineering college days. One of the characters that stood out and is also considered as the fourth Idiot is Chatur aka Silencer played by Omi Vaidya. His hilarious speech was one of the highlights of the film. The actor who gained massive popularity for the role, however, feels that it is also a curse in a way.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, talking about the popularity of his character, Omi said, “I think it is just that it was such a huge character. It’s larger than life. It’s sort of going to follow me throughout my films. And that’s always going to be the sort of litmus test for all of my films. So when you have scripts that are not as to that level, you’ll always want to remember that film.”
“The reason that I’ve been so successful is because of 3 Idiots. But it’s also a curse that I have to deal with in a way. So in the future, I’m definitely going to do different things,” he added.
After 3 Idiots, Omi Vaidya was seen in films like Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, Desi Boyz, Players, Blackmail, and Jodi Breakers.
