Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar box office collection Day 6: Ranbir Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor movie sees over 60% fall on first Monday, inches close to Rs 80 crore
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar box office collection: Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s romantic drama is successfully pulling people to the theaters.
Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer romantic-comedy, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, became only the second Hindi movie of 2023 to genuinely attract audiences to theatres, after the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan. The film had a good hold at the ticket counters during its first five days of release, as it earned Rs 70.24 crore. On its first Monday, the film witnessed a significant drop in collections, but it still managed to accumulate a decent total.
The industry tracker Sacnilk reported that director Luv Ranjan’s film earned approximately Rs 6 crore on its first Monday, which is a 64.87% drop from Sunday. The film recorded occupancy of 10.38%. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared that Rs 3.03 crore of its day-six revenue came from the national chains, PVR, INOX and Cinepolis. He wrote on Twitter, “#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar at national chains… Day 6 / Mon…#PVR: 1.41 cr #INOX: 98 lacs #Cinepolis: 64 lacs ⭐️ Total: ₹ 3.03 cr Nett BOC. Note: Tentative numbers. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has managed to keep the momentum going at the ticket counters, taking over from Pathaan, which released in January. The two other February releases, Shehzada and Selfiee, failed miserably as the audience rejected their below-par content.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, also starring Anubhav Bhassi, Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor, received a mixed response from critics. But the audience seems to have been more forgiving. It follows the story of a young couple who refuse to pull the plug on their relationship. Things get weird when their families get involved.
Going forward, it remains to be seen if the Ranbir Kapoor-led film will manage to survive in the theaters beyond a week. It will soon face competition from Rani Mukerji-starrer Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway and Nandita Das’ Zwigato, starring Kapil Sharma. While Zwigato has received accolades at various film festivals, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway has impressed the audience with its trailer.
