Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani box office collection Day 7: Karan Johar film shows no signs of slowing down, earns over Rs 73 crore in first week
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani box office collection Day 7: Karan Johar’s film is enjoying a dream run at the box office. It its first week, the film has made over Rs 73 crore.
Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, has been out in theatres for a week, during which the film has made Rs 73.37 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. On its seventh day, the film made Rs 6.25 crore, registering yet another marginal day-to-day dip.
The film had a mediocre start at the box office with just Rs 11.1 crore, but positive word of mouth and good reviews helped the film through its first week. RARKPK’s first week collections are less than the first week collections of Pathaan (Rs 378.15 crore), Adipurush (Rs 121.15 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 92.84 crore), Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 92.21 crore) and The Kerala Story (Rs 81.14 crore). With no major releases this Friday, it seems like the Karan Johar film will have no competition in its second weekend and will easily cross the Rs 100 crore mark.
The team of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani held a success meet on Thursday, where Ranveer Singh spoke about his box office track record in the recent past. Ranveer hasn’t had a hit at the box office since 2019’s Gully Boy. His 2021 film 83 released amid the pandemic and with many theatres in Delhi shutting down just days after its release, the film’s business was quite disappointing. But Ranveer’s performance in the film was quite appreciated. His next two releases, Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Cirkus, bombed at the box office.
At the success meet, Ranveer said that he likes to stay detached from the film’s numbers and chooses to focus on his craft. “I don’t understand this numbers game at all, and I try to remain as detached from it as possible. I want to focus on the craft, performance, character and do my best to contribute to what is truly a collaborative effort. So if a film is a success, it’s not my own, it’s everybody’s together and the same goes for failure as well,” he said.
Adding that he was “delighted” by the love he was getting for Rocky, the actor said, “As they say, you learn more from your failures than your successes and I have learnt a few things in the recent past. At the moment, I’m delighted at the love being shown towards Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. I’m very grateful.”
