Vicky Kaushal felt ‘odd’ when he got Katrina Kaif’s attention, asked her why she loved him: ‘Why me?’

Actor Vicky Kaushal was in disbelief when he first started to get attention from now-wife Katrina Kaif. But when he got to know her up close and personal, he fell in love with her and her most endearing quality is her compassion towards others. Recently, Uri fame revealed when he realised he wanted Katrina as his life partner. He also shared the one quality that makes Katrina love him.
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal got married on December 9, 2021, in Rajasthan. During their courtship period, the couple didn’t acknowledge their relationship in public. But when they started seeing each other, they knew they wanted something serious from the relationship.
“In our courtship, it was never suspense if I asked for marriage, will it be a yes or no. From the beginning, we knew this was serious. We are in this to look for something permanent. Marriage was not a question from one side and an answer from the other side. Marriage was a discussion that we had,” Vicky shared during an interaction with We Are Yuvaa.
However, before approaching Katrina, Vicky had doubts about himself. “I have had trouble coming to that reality that I can,” he said. He admits he never fell in love with her because of her star status or popularity in the country. “Those factors were never the reason why I fell in love with her. Why I fell in love with her is because when I got to know the human part of her, the person she is, I was just fully in love. I knew that I would love to have her as my life companion,” said the actor, who was last seen in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
Vicky didn’t ask out Katrina in a fancy manner. He shared that it was as simple as, ‘Can I take you out for dinner?’ But he also confessed that it was a ‘journey’ to reach this question, though he refuses to reveal anything about that journey.
‘I used to feel odd getting attention from her’
However, the initial attention from Katrina did feel ‘odd’ to Vicky. He said, “First, I used to feel odd getting attention from her. I used to be like, ‘Hain? Are you ok?’ She was a phenomenon. Shuru shuru mein obviously ye lagta tha, ‘Why me?’ But she is a lovely human being and once I got to spend time with her, got to know Katrina Kaif, the human being, I realised I had never met a person like her. I have never heard her say anything ill about anyone. She is very compassionate about the people around her, about the environment she is in, and that, for me, is like my biggest turn-on.”
At times, when Vicky Kaushal cannot believe he is getting the love and attention from Katrina Kaif and thinks, ‘Ye kya ho raha hai?’ (What is happening), he asks her why she loves him. The response from Katrina is, “I just feel like you have a set of values which I admire and you are stubborn for those values. You protect those values. So, I like that about you.”
Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif are yet to star together in a movie. Individually, the two are busy with their respective projects. While Vicky is looking forward to the release of The Great Indian Family and Sam Bahadur, Katrina is a part of this year’s Diwali release, Tiger 3, co-starring Salman Khan.
