Delhi: Giant wheel stops rotating, leaves 50 people stuck at Navratri Mela in Narela | WATCH
A chaotic situation prevailed at the place after the incident. After the investigation, police said that legal action was being initiated against the organiser, and they were further looking into the incident.
A giant wheel ride stopped working due to some technical malfunction leaving at least 50 people stranded at a Navratri Mela in Delhi’s Narela area. Several eyewitnesses claimed that the wheel stopped rotating at around 10:30 p.m., and the people in the upper cages were trapped there for approximately half an hour.
The police were immediately informed about the situation and focused on rescue operations along with the help of technical staff. A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media, prompting authorities to launch a rescue operation.
Police said that the wheel of the swing stopped working with people on board. “Everyone has been rescued safely,” they said. According to the police, 20 people have aleady been rescued. These included four men, 12 women and four children. Legal action was being initiated against the organiser, and they were further looking into the incident, the police further infromed.
Earlier, a girl’s hair got stuck in a Ferris wheel at a local fair in Gujarat. As per the Instagram page that shared the video, the incident occurred in Khambhalia town in Devbhoomi Dwarka district at a local fair during Ganesh Chaturthi.
The girl, who sat in the ride, with her hair open, was left screaming after her hair got entangled in one of the wheel’s masts after just two rotations. Hearing her cries, the ride was immediately stopped and other people were evacuated.
