Ahmedabad: Lured with ‘male escort’ job offer, married man cheated of Rs 7 lakh by fraudsters
An Ahmedabad resident has lodged a complaint stating that fraudsters lured him with the offer to become a male escort and duped him of over Rs 7 lakh.
Ahmedabad: A married man was allegedly defrauded of more than Rs 7 lakh after being lured to become a male escort. The victim, a resident of Ahemdabad’s New Ranip area, has lodged a complaint with the cybercrime cell.
The 30-year-old complainant, an employee of a private firm, stated that in March this year, he connected with a person named Priyanka Patel on social media. Patel told him that she ran an escorts agency. She lured him to become an escort for women. The New Ranip resident was told that he would have to meet high-profile women for paid sexual interactions.
The married man got drawn to the offer. He was asked to pay membership charges. After he made the payment, he was allowed to connect with a man, who identified himself as Pavan. The man gave the phone numbers of two women — Shweta Patel and Hina Patel — to the complainant.
According to a report by Ahmedabad Mirror, the complainant was informed that a sum of Rs 2.5 lakh will be given to him for his services. He contacted the phone numbers, but the calls were not received. Later, the woman contacted him on WhatsApp. She made him book a room in a hotel for receiving his remuneration.
The complainant stated that the accused made him pay more money under various pretexts such as security deposit and processing fee. He was asked to book hotel rooms on multiple occasions. The women, however, never came there. He lost Rs 7.1 lakh in total. After realizing that he has been duped, he approached the cybercrime cell with his complaint.
