Smriti Irani hits back at Arvind Kejriwal, says ‘mastermind of liquor scam is finally in custody of law’
AAP Minister Atishi held a press conference as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was sent to six-day ED custody by Rouse Avenue court in Delhi, saying the BJP wants to win the election with the help of ED.
Union Minister and senior BJP leader Smriti Irani on Friday hit back at AAP after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) got the remand of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for 6 days, saying Delhi ruling party used excise policy to fund elections.
Irani held a press conference moments after the Rouse Avenue court in Delhi sent Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday night from his residence, to ED custody till 28 March.

“The mastermind of the liquor scam is finally in the custody of the law. Today, we got an account of how a person who sits on a constitutional post and cites honesty, defines corruption by misusing administrative machinery through the deeds of Arvind Kejriwal. In the court today, some bank transactions were prominently mentioned. One transaction was such, as per which, Sameer Mahendru (an accused in excise policy-linked money laundering case) transferred Rs 1 crore to Radha Industries. Secondly, Sameer Mahendru gave Rs 2-4 crore to Vijay Nair,” said the Union Minister.

Delhi Minister Atishi and Irani’s press conference took place almost simultaneously moments after the court sent Kejriwal to ED remand. Both the leaders from rival parties – AA and BJP – traded charges over the development linked to the Delhi excise case.
“The BJP wants to contest elections from behind the ED… Is ED a part of the BJP that the party is issuing their press release. To date, no proceeds of crime have been found by the ED against the AAP leaders…Today is a dark day in the history of the Democracy of the country. People of the country are seeing this murder of democracy which has been done today,” the Delhi minister said.
