‘No help’: Indian passengers left stranded for 13 hours at Kuwait Airport
Indian passengers travelling from Mumbai to Manchester were left stranded at Kuwait Airport for 13 hours after their Gulf Air flight, GF005, was unexpectedly diverted.
The passengers have accused the airline of neglect, claiming they were left without food or assistance during the long wait. A video shared on social media shows frustrated passengers arguing with airport authorities.
In a tweet, the stranded passengers alleged that Gulf Air provided accommodation only to travellers from the European Union, the UK, and the US, while they were left without help.
Some reports suggest that the flight made a U-turn before landing in Kuwait, and the announcement about the diversion was made just 20 minutes before landing. There were also claims from some passengers that one of the aircraft’s engines had caught fire, which added to the panic.
In response, the Indian Embassy stated that Gulf Air has tentatively scheduled the flight to Manchester at 3:30 am on 2 December. The embassy confirmed that this information is being relayed to all affected passengers by their team stationed at the airport.
