Fire breaks out in two parked vehicles near Mahakumbh mela venue in Prayagraj
A major fire engulfed two parked vehicles in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj during the early hours of Saturday. The incident occurred on the main road leading to Mahakumbh Mela, stirring panic among the locals.
Choking clouds of smoke were seen rising from the cars. Several firefighters reached the spot and brought the flames under control. No casualties or injuries have been reported.
UP Fire officer Vishal Yadav said, “Devotees have come from far-flung areas and have parked their vehicles here. The fire broke out due to the extreme heat. Fire engines have reached the spot, and the fire has been controlled. The Ertiga car is completely burnt, and the Venue car is partially burnt. There were no casualties in the incident, and everyone is safe.”
The fire broke out around 6:30 am, Yadav told. In response, six fire brigades and water tenders were dispatched to the scene, where the fire was swiftly brought under control, he added.
This incident took place a week after a fire broke out at the Mahakumbh venue, which, according to the police, was caused by a cylinder explosion.
Vivek Chaturvedi, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) for the Mahakumbh Mela, stated that the fire occurred on January 19 in the Gita Press camp. Around 70 to 80 huts and eight to 10 tents were destroyed.
Following the incident, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav called for urgent action and urged authorities to take steps to prevent similar accidents in the future.
