Himani Narwal Murder Accused Was In Relationship With Her, Travelled In Auto With Body In Suitcase

In a press conference on Monday, Haryana police confirmed that Congress worker Himani Narwal, whose dead body was found stuffed in a suitcase, was killed by a man, identified as Sachin.

According to the police, Sachin is married and has two kids. He was in relationship with the victim for a year and a half.

On February 27, at around 9 pm, the accused came to the house of the victim and remained there all night, said the police. They added that Sachin and Himani had a spat on February 28 after he tied her up with a cloth. He used the wire of a mobile charger to strangle her to death.

“Himani used to stay alone at her residence in Rohtak. The accused used to frequently visit her and also stay there. On February 27, he stayed with Himani at her residence. On February 28, he had a heated altercation with Himani over some monetary dispute after which he strangulated her to death. The accused tied her hands with her stole and then used the mobile charger wire to strangulate her,” ADGP KK Rao said.

After killing her, the accused stuffed her in a suitcase that belonged to the victim.

As per the police officials, the accused then took out the jewellery that the victim was wearing.

After 10 pm, he took an auto to Rohtak bus stand then took a bus to Sampla where he eventually disposed of the body, said the police.

The police also found blood stains on the blanket, which was disposed off along with the body. The police is still verifying what was the reason for the brawl. Prima facie, it appears to the police that they had an argument regarding some money transfer.

Victim’s Mother Denies Relationship
Narwal’s mother Savita said, “My daughter did not have close friendships with anyone…I want the administration to tell me why my daughter was killed. Money cannot be the reason. If he (accused) can kill her, then how can he be her friend?… The main reason should be told to us. I am not satisfied with the police action. I want him (accused) to get the death penalty…If the accused is not given the death penalty, then I will commit suicide and the Haryana government and administration will be responsible for this.”

The arrest was made after her body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Haryana on March 1. A passer-by found the suitcase near the Sampla bus stand on the Rohtak-Delhi highway one day before the scheduled municipal elections.

Narwal was living in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak. The police said that her body had some injury marks when it was found. The family of Narwal said that they would not cremate her till the police arrest the killers.
