2 youths kill Uttar Pradesh man for testifying against them in rape case
Two youths allegedly shot dead a 27-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district for testifying against the accused in a rape case.
Two youths have been booked for shooting dead a 27-year-old man in Kairana city of Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli on Monday. The man was shot dead in front of his father for testifying against the accused in a rape case.
The killers of the man were identified as Sunny Singh and Shubham Kumar.
The two youths, in their late 20s, were jailed for raping a 30-year-old woman two years ago but were released on bail later, the Times of India reported on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased said the two accused dragged his son into a farm field and shot him dead.
“My son was a witness in a rape case, in which both the killers were accused,” the father said.
He was quoted as saying: “I was going to the field with my son when suddenly Sunny Singh and Shubham Kumar emerged from the bushes and told my son, “You are eager to testify against us in a court. Now, we will kill you in front of your father”. Soon after, they dragged my son into the field. I cried and pleaded with them to spare him. Another farmer Kuldeep also joined me as we tried to reason with them, but they shot him dead in front of us.”
Reportedly, the two accused had also threatened to kill the father of the deceased if he spoke against the two in court.’
Police said Sunny Singh and Shubham Kumar have been booked under Section 302 (murder). Efforts are on to arrest them, police were quoted as saying.
