Akanksha Puri says she’s ‘not entering Bigg Boss OTT 2 with a script’, opens up about relationship with Mika Singh
Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant Akanksha Puri talks about entering the show, her relationship status with Mika Singh and why she wants to be ‘real’ on the Salman Khan-hosted show.
Akanksha Puri was first mentioned on Bigg Boss season 13 as Paras Chhabra’s girlfriend. As he started getting close to co-contestant Mahira Sharma, the two broke up virtually but not before she made her displeasure loud and clear. The actor visited the show in the subsequent seasons as a guest and even as a challenger. Sharing that doing the reality show was always on her agenda, timings never matched.
“If one has to be on a reality show, what is bigger than Bigg Boss? I would have said yes to the show long back but they always came quite late to me, when I was already committed to something else. Bigg Boss OTT 2 came at the right time and I could manage my schedule. I am now excited about this new journey,” Akanksha Puri told indianexpress.com.
The actor shared that the only challenge for her would be to live with strangers in the same house. Sharing that she has been living alone since the last 15 years, Puri said, “I don’t know how I will handle that. I have never had a roommate, flatmate, or even a line-in relationship. I even ask my househelps to go home at night. I like my own space and that is the only worrying part for me.”
Given her tagline is ‘Teekhi Puri’, the actor said that she will make sure her journey is spicy to keep up with it. Discussing whether her past (Paras Chhabra) will come up in conversations inside or outside the show, Akanksha said, “That is quite stale news now. There have been multiple seasons after that and I think people have already forgotten about it. I think audiences would not be interested in it anymore. It’s time to offer them something fresh.”
When asked if the ‘fresh topic’ is Mika Singh, the actor laughed, “He is very special to me, and it’s a topic close to my heart.” As readers would know, Akanksha entered Mika Vi Vohti, the singer’s swayamvar as a wild card contestant. Given the two have known each other for a long, it came as no surprise that she was announced the winner of the show. However, they both maintain they are ‘just friends’ and are not in a romantic relationship.
“He is my biggest supporter and Mika was so excited that I am doing Bigg Boss. He is my best friend and I look up to him for so many things. I am relieved that he is outside supporting me. People might say a lot of things about us but I do not care. For people who have watched the show, they know it was about one girl winning it. And we ended the show on a friendly note. I still believe that as a life partner, you should choose friends over anyone else. I am single and Mika is my closest friend, and he will have the same things to say,” she added.
The actor also assured that even after doing back-to-back reality shows, she wouldn’t let the tag of a ‘reality star’ on her. “I will break out of that bracket as I believe it’s up on us, how we shape our career.” On a final note, Akanksha Puri also shared how her friends, who have been part of the show warned her to not be fake. “I have not developed a script and I want to be sure that I am real on the show. I will make sure that I do not follow the trend and be organic and natural. Be it Rashami Desai or Rahul Vaidya, they all told me that you will not sustain if you aren’t real. I want to give my 100 percent and also hope that I get chosen for the main show,” she concluded.
