Delhi-NCR weather update: Sudden rains lash several parts in region; IMD predicts no heatwave for 3 days

Delhi-NCR weather update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted rain in the city for the next two to three days and no heatwave until May 30.

Delhi-NCR weather updates: Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) woke up to sudden lashes of rainfall on Saturday along with strong winds. Thunder and lightning were also witnessed while thick dark clouds engulfed the region. Notably, power cuts were reported in many places.

IMD predicts no heatwave conditions for next 3 days

Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted rain in the city for the next two to three days and no heat wave is predicted until May 30. The weather department issued an advisory and the impact that is to be expected due to rain, thunderstorm and lightning over Delhi-NCR and adjoining areas.

Here is a list of impacts that the IMD warned about:

  • Traffic congestion and slippery roads due to rain.
  • Routine outdoor buisness/activity very likely to affect.
  • Damage plantation, horticulture and standing crops.
  • Partial damage to vulnerable structures.
  • Minor damage to kutcha houses/walls and huts.
  • Immediately get out of water bodies.
  • Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity


Flight operations disrupted at Delhi Airport


Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport announced faced issues due to bad weather leading to an impact on flight operations, informed the airport authorities. Delhi airport advised passengers to contact airlines for updated flight information.

Just a few days ago, rains had lashed certain parts of the national capital bringing the temperature down by several notches. Along with Delhi, NCR region and parts of Uttar Pradesh including Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, and Noida also witnessed light rainfall.
