Delhi Polls: Arvind Kejriwal To Contest From New Delhi, Atishi Gets Kalkaji In New AAP List

The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday released the fourth and final list of 38 candidates for the Delhi Assembly Elections, announcing that party chief and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will contest the polls from New Delhi.

Chief Minister Atishi will contest the elections from Kalkaji.

Other top leaders of the party, including sitting ministers have been given tickets for the polls.

Kejriwal Reacts To AAP List Of Candidates, Slams BJP
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said that the party will contest the Delhi polls with full confidence and “thorough preparation”. He also took a jibe at the rival BJP stating that the saffron party is “nowhere to be seen”.

“The BJP is nowhere to be seen. They have no chief ministerial candidate, no team, no planning, and no vision for Delhi. Their sole slogan, policy, and mission is: “Remove Kejriwal.”,” Kejriwal said.

“When asked what they’ve done in the past five years, their only response is: “We hurled abuses at Kejriwal.”,” the AAP chief added.

He said that the AAP, in contrast, has a plan for the development of the city with a “clear vision”, backed by a “long list of achievements” to show for.

“The people of Delhi will vote for those who work, not for those who resort to slander,” he said.

The Assembly Elections in Delhi are due to be held in February next year, in which the BJP hopes to oust the AAP government from power ending its 10-year rule. Kejriwal, who stepped down as the chief minister following bail by the Supreme Court in excise police case, said that he would sit on the CM chair only after getting a “certificate of honesty” by the public in the elections. He had appointed his loyalist Atishi as the Chief Minister of Delhi for the brief period until next elections.
