Delhi shocker: Woman constable drugged, raped & blackmailed by sub-inspector

In a shocking incident, a Delhi Police constable was allegedly sedated and raped by a sub-inspector in Munrika area of the city.

New Delhi: A sub-inspector posted with the Special Cell of the Delhi Police allegedly sedated and raped a female constable in Munrika area of the national capital. The accused also clicked photographs of the woman constable and later used them to blackmail her. The case has to light amid the ongoing furore over a nine-year-old Dalit girl’s alleged rape and murder in Old Nangal area of the city.

As per reports, the female constable, in her complaint, stated that she and the sub-inspector met at work. One day, he took her to a room in the city’s Munrika locality. He allegedly gave her a sedative-laced cold drink there. After having the drink, she lost consciousness. Subsequently, the sub-inspector sexually assaulted her and clicked ‘obscene’ photos of her. Later, he blackmailed her by threatening to upload the photographs on the internet.

“She has alleged in her complaint that he was mentally torturing her and sexually harassing her,” a report by The Indian Express quoted an officer as saying. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, the report stated.

The complainant’s statement was recorded under CrPC Section 164 in the presence of a magistrate. The accused, however, has not been arrested yet. DCP (South) Atul Thakur stated that the investigations into the case are underway.

The case has come to light days after a nine-year-old girl, belonging to the Dalit community, was allegedly raped, killed and cremated without her family’s consent in the national capital’s Old Nangal area.

The police have arrested four people, including a priest, in connection with the case. The accused have been booked under Sections 302 (murder), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Relevant charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the SC/ST Act have also been invoked against them.
