Will RRR movie makers stick to their promise this time?
SS Rajamouli’s RRR is one of the most-awaited movies of the year. The makers have reportedly spent Rs 400 crore on the Jr NTR and Ram Charan Starrer. The multi-lingual project’s picturization has already been postponed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier it was scheduled to be released on 30th July 2020 and then postponed to 8th Jan 2021 (coinciding with the 2021 Sankranthi festival). Later the makers announced that the film would release on 13th October 2021 due to fear of the Covid-19 third wave. Now, the film release date is still uncertain due to the new government guidelines in Andhra Pradesh.
The makers were reportedly in plans to release the movie with a hike ticket price of Rs 200 – 300 for the first week of its release. Reportedly, the distributors have signed the deal for the same. But now, the situation is different in Andhra. It is also uncertain now as the Hindi market is unclear as most of the theatres in the North are yet to be re-opened, and there are many Hindi movies lined up for release.
Currently, the RRR movie has been trending on Twitter as an official announcement regarding the film’s release date will be made soon. But not many in the trade are ready to trust the makers. Andhra’s business deal needs to be re-negotiated by at least 40% due to its prevailing low ticket price rules.
