‘I Was Sleeping When…’: BJP’s Manoranjan Kalia Reacts To Blast Outside Jalandhar Home; Probe On

BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia reacted to the early morning blast outside his Jalandhar residence on Tuesday, saying he was asleep at the time and initially mistook the sound for thunder.

Reports indicate that the blast took place around 1 am outside Kalia’s residence, with police suspecting a grenade attack. However, an investigation is ongoing to confirm the details.

“There was a blast at around 1 am. I was sleeping, and I thought that it was the sound of thunder. Later, I was informed that a blast had taken place. Following this I sent my gunman to the police station. CCTV is being investigated and forensic experts are also present here. Soon the details of the probe will come out,” Kalia said.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur said that around 1 am, the police received information about a blast, following which they reached the spot and began an investigation.

The forensic team is examining the incident to determine whether it was a grenade attack or something else, and CCTV footage is also being reviewed, Kaur said.

Who Is Manoranjan Kalia?
Manoranjan Kalia is a senior leader in Punjab and currently serves as the leader of BJP’s legislature party in the state. He previously held the position of Cabinet Minister in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP coalition government.

Based in Jalandhar City, he has been a prominent face in Punjab politics and contested elections from the Jalandhar Central assembly constituency.

Before jumping into politics, Kalia was a practising lawyer. His transition from law to politics marked the beginning of a long and influential tenure in the state’s political landscape.

Political experts say that Kalia is known for his articulate voice within the BJP and has played a pivotal role in shaping the party’s strategies and outreach in Punjab.
