India registered 36,571 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, and the active caseload stands at 3,63,605, the lowest in five months, according to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry.
A total of 540 casualties were reported on Thursday across the country. Maximum deaths were reported in Kerala at 197, followed by Maharashtra with 154 daily deaths.
A total of 36,555 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 3,15,61,635 across the country. The recovery rate has increased to 97.54 per cent.
Among all the states, Kerala reported the highest Covid-19 cases at 21,116, followed by Maharashtra with 5,225 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,702 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,501 cases and Karnataka with 1,432 cases.
These five states accounted for 84.7 per cent of the daily new cases reported on Thursday, with Kerala alone responsible for 57.74 per cent of the fresh infections.
India conducted 18,86,271 tests during the previous day, according to Health Ministry data.
Covid-19 vaccines administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive surged to 57,22,81,488, with 54,71,282 doses administered on Thursday.
