Jammu and Kashmir: Encounter breaks out at Kapren area in Shopian, 1 JeM militant killed
Encounter in J&K: According to the Kashmir Zone Police, the Army and the local police are on the job.
Encounter in J&K: An encounter has started between militants and security forces at Kapren area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
As per reports, at least two militants are believed to be trapped in the area. The Kashmir Zone Police stated that one militant of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit has been gunned down.
The slain militant has been identified as Kamran Bhai aka Hanees who was active in the Kulgam-Shopian area. The local police and the Army are still on the job as the search operation is underway, the Kashmir Police Zone added.
In an earlier operation on Thursday, the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police dismantled a terror funding and recruitment hub operating in the Kupwara district of North Kashmir and also detained six terrorists.
“This was an attempt to revive militancy in North Kashmir. The module was being coordinated by Pakistan-based handlers to aid the operations of ‘Tehreek-e-ul Mujahideen Jammu and Kashmir’ (TuMJK) in North Kashmir,” SSP Kupwara Yugal Minhas told media.
