JioPhone Next may be available for pre-bookings this week: Specs, expected India price

India’s largest telecom operator Reliance Jio could open its much-awaited JioPhone Next for pre-orders from next week. It has been reported that the telecom company is already in talks with its retail partners to line up the pre-orders.

JioPhone Next is the latest phone in the Jio phone lineup. JioPhone Next is a low-cost smartphone that has been developed in a joint collaboration between Reliance Jio and Google. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had confirmed the development of the JioPhone Next at the 44th Reliance Industries Annual General Meeting event, which was held virtually on August 28. At the event, it was announced that the JioPhone Next would be available from September 10 on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Specifications
At Jio’s AGM meeting, it did not reveal the specifications of the JioPhone Next. According to various leaks, the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s entry-level Snapdragon 215 quad-core processor with a 1.3GHz clock speed.

Further, the JioPhone Next is said to be available in two different variants; the 2 GB and 3 GB RAM paired with 16 GB and 32 GB internal storage. Additionally, the JioPhone Next might sport a 5.5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720×1,440 pixels and a 2500 mAh battery.

The first smartphone offered by Jio is expected to have a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies on the front. The Jiophone Next has a polycarbonate rear panel that houses a pill-shaped camera module and a LED flash.

The built-in Google Voice assistant is also going to be smart enough to keep you informed about the phone’s balance via your MyJio app. The assistant can also be asked to play music on the Jio Saavn app.

Expected Price
While there is no official word on the pricing of the new JioPhone Next smartphone by Jio and Google, according to several rumours and reports the smartphone could be priced at Rs. 3,499.

The pricing could be in line with Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s statement during the 44th AGM remarking that the JioPhone Next will be the most affordable smartphone offering in the country.
