Karan Johar pens note for Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda as they jet off for Brazil to promote The Archies: ‘Literally held them in my arms’

Karan Johar penned a note for the cast of The Archies, particularly Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda, recalling how he had held them in their arms as toddlers.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has praised the new poster of Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, and said the young actors in the upcoming Netflix film look “incredible”. The Archies marks the acting debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana, megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya and actor Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi.

Karan took to Instagram stories and penned a note for the star kids, especially Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda, recalling how he had held them in their arms as babies, and today they are ready to make their big, global debut with the live-action musical. The Archies also stars Mihir Ahuja, Dot., Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda.

“Go Zo! The kids look incredible! Can’t believe how the kids grow up so fast. Have literally held Aggy and Suhana in my arms. And to all the supremely talented kids in this special film! This one is going to rule pop culture,” Karan wrote.

The Archies team on Tuesday was spotted at the airport as they left to attend the Netflix Tudum event in Brazil. The Archies’ official Instagram page posted pictures of the team from the aircraft and wrote, “Catching flights aur feelings 🥹 kyunki #TheArchies ja rahe hain apne pehle adventure ke liye ✈️ First stop: Sao Paulo! 🇧🇷”

Shweta Bachchan, mother of Agastya, commented “so cute” on the post, while director Zoya Akhtar, who is also travelling with the actors, wrote, “Brazil calling.” In the film, expected to release sometime this year, Suhana stars as the diva Veronica, Khushi as the girl-next-door Betty, while Agastya plays the titular lead.

Netflix has partnered with Archie Comics for the 1960s-set film, a coming-of-age story that will introduce the teenagers of Riverdale to a new generation in India. It is backed by Zoya and filmmaker Reema Kagti through their production house Tiger Baby.
