Dressed in an orange silk gown, the actor exuded glamour as she spoke about films, growing up in a film family, and parenting two kids with Saif Ali Khan amid the social media glare. She also addressed the pap culture today, which has found a way into celebrities’ lives, and how it was ‘different and organic’ when she was a child.

Kareena shared that, unlike today, one wouldn’t know that their parents are famous till they grew up a bit. She said that she would go on movie shoots with her parents. Calling it a ‘special treat’, Kareena mentioned watching her father Randhir Kapoor shooting with Amitabh Bachchan. “Today… it’s like everything’s out there. You know, in those days, it was not about the paps or how you looked or where you went or what you did or, you know, like which restaurant you ate at. And it was never… it was always about… it was more humane in some way.”

She added that given her parents and then her sister Karisma Kapoor was in films, she would often find herself on sets. The actor said she’d see them act and dream about working in movies. “She (Karisma) would be shooting with Shah Rukh or Salman and Aamir. So it was just like a little girl’s dream watching from afar.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan mentioned that given it was so organic, there was somehow more connection She added that she still remembers her conversations with Akshay Kumar or Aamir Khan, while now, it’s more about posing and being conscious of where you go, and who you talk to.

Kareena Kapoor Khan on her days at Welhams
While Kareena knew she belonged to movies, the actor said she broke out from it for a while as she decided to go to boarding school. Recalling her time at Welham Girls’ School, she said they’d be woken up at 5:45 am and asked to take cold showers, even in winter. “It just kind of prepares you for like the gruelling stuff. I think it just actually prepared me for all these gruelling shoots that now I do,” she shared.

The actor added that in school, she realised how it was a hub of girls from North India and girls from small towns like Saharanpur, Roorkee and other places. She also shared that the ‘only good thing’ about social media for her is that “sometimes when you lose touch with friends, it’s helped get in touch with a lot of people from Welhams”.
