Man Kills Wife In Bengaluru, Stuffs Body In Suitcase, Then Flees After Informing Neighbour
A shocking murder has come to light in Bengaluru after the body of a woman with severe injuries was found packed in a suitcase at a residence in Bengaluru’s Doddakammanahalli area.
The victim, Gouri Anil Sambre, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Rajendra Khedekar. Both were originally from Maharashtra and had recently relocated to Bengaluru for work.
According to police sources, Rakesh fled the house after murdering his wife on Wednesday. After escaping, he called another resident of the building and confessed to the murder. The resident, in turn, alerted the building owner, who contacted the Bengaluru South-East Police Control Room around 5:30 pm today.
Following the call, the police quickly rushed to the couple’s house, which was locked. Upon entering, they found Gouri’s body, with multiple injuries, packed in a suitcase in the bathroom.
The police further stated that although the body was intact, it had serious wounds to the neck and stomach. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
“Rakesh and Gouri had been married for two years, and both hailed from Maharashtra. They had moved to Bengaluru last month for work. Rakesh worked as an IT Project Manager, while Gouri was a housewife and was searching for a job. The husband had fled after the crime, but we have arrested him,” said Sara Fatima, Deputy Commissioner of Police of of Bengaluru South-East Division.
Meanwhile, a murder case has been registered at the Hulimavu Police Station after the accused was detained. The police are now investigating the motive behind the murder.
Rakesh, who had fled after murdering Gouri, was arrested in Pune. The Hulimavu Police had informed the Pune police about the crime after accessing call detail records.
A team from the Hulimavu Police Station is now heading to Pune to take custody of the accused and will bring him back to Bengaluru on Friday, to present him before a local court.
