Moto Tab 8 may launch in India next month

Motorola, the pioneers of mobile phone technology, have been trying to make their presence felt in the tablet market since 2012, a space strongly dominated by Apple offerings. First reported by 91mobiles, Motorola is launching the Moto Tab 8 tablet in India in the upcoming Flipkart Big Billion Day Sale next month.

The company revealed the development of Moto Tab 8 through a dedicated Flipkart microsite set up for sales events. The tablet will be a rebranded Lenovo Tab M8 FHD that is already available in the country. The American giant Motorola was acquired by Lenovo from Google in 2014.

Flipkart’s promotional posters show a white rear panel with a single camera. The Moto Tab 8 front panel, on the other hand, is surrounded by a thick bezel. The Moto Tab M8’s image on Flipkart has no information on its specs. It only mentions that it will be a suitable device for entertainment and education.

According to 91mobiles, the Moto Tab 8 will be launched in October and will offer a stock Android experience. With the launch of the Moto Tab 8, the company will be making its comeback to the Indian tablet market. It is expected to cost less than Rs. 20,000 and will be competing against Android tablets such as Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 and the new Realme Pad.

If the Motorola tablet is indeed a rebranded Lenovo Tab M8 FHD (2nd-generation), then it will come with an 8-inch Full-HD IPS display that has 1,9201,200 pixel resolution and 350 nits brightness. It will be powered by MediaTek Helio P22T SoC with up to 4GB of RAM. For additional storage, it will have a microSD card slot.

The tablet will likely be available in both 32GB and 64GB variants along with Wi-Fi and Cellular variants. It will feature a 13-megapixel camera and a 5-megapixel lens in front. Although Lenovo Tab M8 FHD sported an Android 9, the Moto Tab 8 may have Android 11 on board. The tablet is backed up by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 10W charging.
