Navi Mumbai: Woman, aide stuff chilli powder in elderly man’s nose, strangulate him for robbing gold ornaments

A police officer said the two accused strangled the 60-year-old man after stuffing chilli powder in his mouth and nose.

Navi Mumbai: A 42-year-old woman and her associate allegedly murdered a 60-year-old man in Panvel taluka, reportedly in order to rob his gold ornaments weighing around 20 tolas. As per reports, the accused woman and the victim were in a relationship.

The deceased was identified as Balram Patil, a Belavali village resident who ran a mandap decoration business. He was allegedly in a relationship with one Nanda Thakur. On Friday night, Patil’s son filed a police complaint stating that his father has gone missing. Meanwhile, the cops received information from Thalur’s son that she left the house without informing anybody, according to a report by The Times of India.

After this, the cops went to Thakur’s residence in Panvel’s Owale village. They broke open the door and entered the house. They found Patel dead lying dead with a dupatta (stole) wrapped around his neck. Using technical surveillance, the police found out that Thakur had fled to Buldhana.

As she deboarded a bus at Kalamboli, a police team arrested her. She, thereafter, told the police that she killed Patil with the help of her associate, identified as Mangesh Khetri. “On the afternoon of August 13 when portal came to Tagore’s house, she called Khatri and planned to rob Patil’s gold ornaments. The duo stuffed chilli powder inside Patil’s mouth and nose and strangulated him using her dupatta days and lock the house and fled,” the report quoted a police officer as saying.

In another incident, a 54-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Latur district allegedly killed his 85-year-old mother-in-law and her sister, dismembered their bodies and later buried the parts in the bed of a dried-up pond. The district police have arrested the accused.

The arrestee has been identified as Traymbak alias Raju Naraynkar, a resident of Gothewadi area with the Killari police station limits in the district. He has confessed to having killed his mother-in-law, Trivenibai Sonawne and her sister Shewantabai Sawalkar. He committed the crime over a month ago when other family members had gone to an adjoining village.
