New Honda Amaze facelift production starts, launch in India on August 18

Honda Cars India has commenced the mass production and despatches of the Amaze facelift. The new Amaze is being produced at the automaker’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The new Honda Amaze facelift is scheduled to be launched in the country on August 18, 2021.

The pre-bookings for the Amaze facelift have started as well. Customers can book the new Amaze at all authorised Honda dealerships for a token amount of Rs 21,000, while online bookings can be made through Honda Cars India’s website after paying Rs 5,000.

“After the successful ramp-up at our manufacturing plant and streamlining supplies for all models, we have begun the mass production and despatches of the new Amaze to ensure availability of cars across the network from the time of launch. We are confident the new Amaze with its more premium and sophisticated offering will appeal to our customers and be the perfect choice for their families,” said Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President and Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Cars India.

Now in its second generation, the Amaze is the largest-selling model of Honda Cars India. The new Honda Amaze facelift gets a host of exterior updates, including a mildly tweaked grille, new LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, redesigned front bumper with slightly altered fog lamp housing, new LED taillamps and a fresh set of alloy wheels. While details about the interior updates are scarce, we are expecting a fresh upholstery and touchscreen infotainment system, among other additions.

The new Amaze will continue with 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine options. The petrol unit delivers 90PS of maximum power and 110Nm of peak torque, and can be paired with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT automatic. The diesel unit churns out 100PS of maximum power and 200Nm of peak torque with a 5-speed MT, and 80PS of maximum power and 160Nm of peak torque with a CVT automatic.

The Amaze facelift might be introduced with a higher price tag compared to the outgoing model, which is priced between Rs 6.22 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Among its rivals will be the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire.
