Palak Tiwari says her comment on Salman Khan’s strict dress code barring women from wearing clothes with low necklines was ‘misunderstood’

Palak Tiwari had earlier revealed that Salman Khan had a rule on the sets of Antim as they were told, “all the girls should be covered, like good proper girls.”

Days after sharing that women on the sets of Salman Khan‘s films had a strict dress-code where they are not allowed to wear dresses with low necklines, Palak Tiwari has now said that her statement was “misunderstood”. Palak stars in Salman’s upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

“It’s really been misunderstood. All I wanted to say is that I have put certain guidelines for myself as to how to dress around people who are way senior to me, who have I pretty much grown up idolising. Salman sir is, of course, one of them,” she was quoted by ETimes.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Palak had revealed that before co-starring Salman in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, she was an assistant on Salman’s film Antim: The Final Truth which also starred Aayush Sharma. She had also shared how, on the sets of Antim, there was a rule that Salman had enforced a strict dress-code for all the female crew members. She said, “When I was AD-ing with Salman sir on Antim, Salman sir had a rule: ‘every girl on my set, the neckline should be here, all the girls should be covered, like good proper girls’.”

Calling Salman a “traditionist,” Palak had added, “He’s a traditionalist. Of course, he’s like, ‘Jo pehenna hai pehno (wear whatever you like),’ but he’s also like my girls should always be protected. If there are men around who he doesn’t personally know, it’s not his personal space where he doesn’t trust everyone, he’s like, the girl should be safe, always.”

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, directed by Farhad Samji, stars Salman Khan, Pooja Hegde, Palak Tiwari, Shehnaaz Gill, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Vijender Singh and others. The film is scheduled to release on April 21.
