Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani box office collection Day 6: Positive word-of-mouth carries Karan Johar’s film to Rs 70 crore

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani box office collection Day 6: Karan Johar’s film has made close to Rs 70 crore in the first six days.

Director Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is emerging as a hit at the Indian box office. After six days in theatres, the Alia Bhatt-Ranveer Singh-starrer has earned approximately Rs 67.12 crore as per industry tracker Sacnilk. On the sixth day, the film’s earnings stood at Rs 6.90 crore.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani had a mediocre start at the box office as it only brought in Rs 11.1 crore on its opening day, but by the end of its opening weekend, the film had earned Rs 45.90 crore, which was Rs 3 crore less than Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which released only a week before. Nolan’s film brought in Rs 48.19 crore in its opening weekend in India.

Very few Hindi films this year have registered themselves as hits. Pathaan earned a massive Rs 543.05 crore, The Kerala Story earned Rs 242.20 crore. These are the only two Hindi movies that can be counted as undeniable hits. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Adipurush and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan have each collected over Rs 100 crore, but given their mammoth budgets, they can’t be declared outright hits. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, with its collection of Rs 87.45 crore, emerged as a surprise hit, as did Satyaprem Ki Katha.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani released amid tough competition from Hollywood as Oppenheimer, Barbie and Mission Impossible 7 were all performing decently well in Indian theatres. The film’s positive reviews and reactions have helped its collections through the week and it is expected that its collections during its second weekend will also stay lucrative.

The family drama, which also stars Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi in significant roles, is receiving a lot of praise from the moviegoing audience, as well as the critics. RARKPK marked Karan’s return to feature filmmaking after seven years. While he made a few shorts in Netflix anthologies, the director hadn’t director a feature length film since 2016’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
