Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani box office collection day 10: Karan Johar delivers his second Rs 100 cr film as the movie shows excellent trending even in second weekend.
Filmmaker Karan Johar’s romantic comedy drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani continued its smashing box office run as it entered the Rs 100 cr club on Sunday. The film, headlined by Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, showed an impressive second weekend hold with a drop of just 30 percent as compared to its opening weekend, industry tracker Sacnilk reported.
According to early estimates, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani earned Rs 13.50 cr on its second Sunday, taking the total collections to Rs 105 cr in 10 days. The second Saturday jump for the film was a whopping 70 percent from Friday while Sunday witnessed yet another strong jump of 15 percent, taking the collective second weekend total of Rs 31 cr.
With this, the film has become the sixth Bollywood movie of the year to clock more than Rs 100 cr, after Shah Rukh Kha’s Pathaan, Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor’s romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, The Kerala Story, Salman Khan-led Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Adipurush.
While Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has trended exceptionally well after a lukewarm start of merely Rs 11 cr, the film’s run is likely to take a hit next Friday when two Bollywood films will release— Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and Sunny Deol led Gadar 2. According to Sacnilk, the Karan Johar directorial could have easily gone past the Rs 150 cr net mark had it got another free week but will still eye for the mark if the two new releases underperform.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is Karan Johar’s second film to enter Rs 100 cr club after his last directorial, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. It is also the seventh film of both, Ranveer and Alia, to clock more than Rs 100 cr.
