Saif Ali Khan attacked with knife during burglary attempt, undergoes surgery
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at least six timesby an unidentified attacker,who entered his Mumbai home in a burglary attempt on Thursday. After the attack, Saif was admitted to Lilavati Hospital where he is undergoing surgery and was reportedly out of danger. Saif had two deep cuts, with one close to the actor’s spinal cord, police said.
According to the police, the suspect entered Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra home at around 3.30 am and both of them had a fight during which the actor was stabbed. Saif’s wife Kareena Kapoor and sons Taimur and Jeh were present in the house at the time of the incident, sources said.
A probe was launched by the Mumbai Police to trace the accused and ensure his arrest.
“An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder fought. The actor was injured and is being treated. An investigation is going on,” the local area’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dixit Gedam, said while speaking to the media on the issue.
A statement was also released from Saif Ali Khan’s team where they requested the “media and fans to be patient”.
“There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khans residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” a statement by Saif Ali Khan’s team read.

After the attack,Lilavati Hospital, in a statement, said that Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at least six times, with two deep cuts. In addition, one of the knife wounds was very close to his spinal cord.
“Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his Bandra home and was brought in at 3.30 am. He had six stabs and two were deep. Of this one is close to the spine. He is being operated upon by a team of doctors led by Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain and anaesthesiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi,” DrUttamani ofLilavati Hospital said.
The attack on Saif Ali Khan came months after two men on a motorbike, allegedly belonging to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, opened fire outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra.
OPPOSITION QUESTIONS LAW&ORDER IN MUMBAI
After the incident, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said that the attack on Saif Ali Khan raises questions on the Mumbai Police and Maharashtra’s Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
“What a shame that Mumbai sees another high profile attempt on life, the attack on Saif Ali Khan yet again raises questions on Mumbai Police & the Home Minister,”Chaturvedi said in her post on X.
NCP (SP) leader Clyde Crasto also questioned the law and order situation in Mumbai, adding that “fear of law seems to be at a low in Maharashtra due to leniencies in the past couple of years.”
“Attack on Saif Ali Khan is a cause for concern because if such high profile people with levels of security can be attacked in their homes, then what could happen to common citizens? Fear of law seems to be at a low in Maharashtra due to leniencies in the past couple of years,” Crasto said in a post on X
