Tamannaah Bhatia says her relationship with Vijay Varma is ‘interesting’ for people: ‘It’s good dining table conversation’
As Tamannaah Bhatia spoke about her relationship with Vijay Varma, she also spoke about how the constant spotlight on an actor’s dating life affects her.
Tamannaah Bhatia is on a high, both personally and professionally. Her two projects – Jee Karda and Lust Story 2 are up for release while her dating life is all roses thanks to Vijay Varma. The actor recently confirmed her relationship in an interview, calling him her ‘happy place’.
In an interaction with indianexpress.com, Tamammaah discussed how actors’ relationships are subjected to constant scrutiny. In the phase when couples often take time to explore each other and their bond, this media scrutiny could act as a deterrent. Dismissing the same, the Baahubali actor said that she’s in a ‘fairly comfortable’ position now to not be bothered about the same.
“What I have had, or what I have today has been a fairly comfortable experience. I should be able to look into the mirror and be happy. And all this doesn’t bother me anymore. Earlier, I would be worried about what my parents would think. However, the beauty is that as I have evolved, they have evolved as well. And I take that as an achievement. I think today, apart from the ill-health of my close ones, nothing else robs me of my happiness,” she said with a smile.
On being asked about the buzz around her and Vijay, Tamannaah added, “I will talk about it when I have something to say. I know it’s interesting.. people want to know more about it. It’s a good dining table conversation.”
In Jee Karda, her character is seen getting married to her childhood sweetheart only to realise that they were better off as friends. The actor discussed how having grown up on a dose of movies, the idea of romance and love shapes accordingly. She added that thus a show like Jee Karda is crucial for people to understand the reality of relationships.
Tamannaah said, “I feel the cinema that we have grown up watching, it was all about how love is selfless. Apne aap ko bhul jao (you forget yourself). But if you can’t be happy, you cannot make anyone else happy. Today, I learned that there is situationship, toxic relationships, and so many elements to it. We were never taught that. For us, it was either love or arranged marriages. Today, there are so many avenues that one can use to discover what they want. The cinema we consumed also defined milestones according to age. Yeh umar mein yeh hona chaiye, iss umar mein woh. And if it doesn’t happen, you are incomplete and not good enough. A big part of our personalities became unknowingly dependent on other peoples’ perceptions. What will they think? And that happened because of societal pressure put through cinema. This is why Jee Karda is so refreshing. And if Gen Z watches our show, I hope they get a safe place to create, understand and accept themselves.”
Starting June 15, Jee Karda will stream on Amazon Prime Video. Directed by Anurima Sharma, the show also stars Suhail Nayyar, Sayaan Banerjee, Aashim Gulati, Hussain Dalal, Samvedna Suwalka and Anya Singh.
