PV Sindhu defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi in straight games in the quarterfinals of the women’s singles badminton event at the Tokyo Olympics to enter the semi-finals on Friday.
Sindhu won the first game comfortably with a scoreline of 21-13. In the second game, Yamaguchi fought back but Sindhu held her nerves and prevailed in a hard-fought game to finish the match inside an hour.
