Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar box office collection Day 7: Ranbir Kapoor’s rom-com falls short of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s first week total

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar box office collection: After a strong performance over the extended five-day weekend, Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s film is holding well even on the weekdays.

The Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is being lapped up by fans who’ve been starving for big screen romantic comedies in recent years. After a good performance over the extended five-day weekend, the film is holding well even on the weekdays. On Tuesday, the film managed to earn in the same range as it did on Monday.

As per the industry tracker Sacnilk, director Luv Ranjan’s film added another Rs 6.05 cr (early estimates) to its total collection, which now stands at approximately Rs 83 crore. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the breakup of the film’s collection since its release on March 8. He wrote on Twitter, “#TuJhoothiMainMakkaar collects a decent number on Mon [Day 6]… National chains continue to lead, mass pockets remain ordinary/below par… Wed 15.73 cr, Thu 10.34 cr, Fri 10.52 cr, Sat 16.57 cr, Sun 17.08 cr, Mon 6.05 cr. Total: ₹ 76.29 cr. #India biz. #TJMM.”

The first-week collections of the romantic comedy were better than most Ranbir Kapoor’s films, including Jagga Jasoos (Rs 46.29 cr), Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (Rs 80.19 cr), and Tamasha (Rs 53.46 cr). However, his last rom-com, 2013’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, had a better first-week collection. It earned Rs 107.61 cr within seven days of its release.

If Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar manages to maintain its hold at the ticket counters for another week, it can end up being a moderate hit. After this, it might face competition from this Friday’s releases, Rani Mukerji’s Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway and Kapil Sharma’s Zwigato. Anubhav Sinha’s Bheed and Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa are scheduled to release later this month.

After Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Ranbir Kapoor has Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal in the pipeline. It will feature the actor in a completely different avatar. Also starring Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles, the film will hit the theatres on August 11.
