Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar box office collection Day 8: Ranbir Kapoor’s film nears Rs 100 crore mark, to face competition from Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar box office collection: The Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is set to cross the Rs 100 crore mark soon.

The Luv Ranjan directorial Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has managed to bring some respite to cinema owners and audience who have been longing for a good theatrical experience after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Despite mixed reviews, the Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-led romantic drama is still finding takers. After a good first week, the film managed to accumulate over Rs 5 crore on its eighth day at the box office.

Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar earned Rs 5.60 crore (early estimates) on Wednesday, bringing the total collection of the movie to Rs 88 crore approximately. It had an overall occupancy of 10.31% in the Hindi-speaking market on March 15.

Of late, Bollywood has been struggling to give audiences good options in theatres. In the last six months, it has managed to give only two blockbusters, Drishyam 2 (Rs 240.54 cr) and Pathaan (Rs 539.64 cr). Though Brahmastra also earned well (Rs 257.44 cr), its collection was not at par with its humongous making cost. Besides these, only three films could cross the Rs 50 crore mark: Vikram Vedha (Rs 78.66 cr) Ram Setu (Rs 71.87 cr) Bhediya (Rs 66.65 cr).

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, which is set to cross the Rs 100 crore mark, opened on March 8 to mixed reviews. The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta gave the romantic-comedy 1.5 stars in her review and called it “boring”. A section of her review read, “The writers of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar clearly didn’t get the memo on brevity being the soul of wit: the film drags on for two hours before it comes to the last twenty minutes, which is when the pace picks up.”
