UP: Robbers shoot ADO panchayat’s driver, flee with officer’s licensed pistol in Baghpat

Gaurav, the driver of Baghpat ADO (panchayat), was found in an injured condition outside a colony near Collectorate. He is said to be in critical condition.

Baghpat: The law and order situation seems to have collapsed in Uttar Pradesh. In a fresh incident, robbers shot and injured the driver of ADO (panchayat) and looted the officer’s licensed pistol.

The incident took place outside a colony near the district magistrate office in Baghpat district on Monday evening.

The driver identified as Gaurav was found in an injured condition outside the colony. He was later admitted to the hospital by the police, according to a report in Hindi daily Hindustan.

The victim is said to be in a critical state and has been referred to Ghaziabad.

On Monday, Baghpat ADO Krishnapal Singh said he had gone to District Panchayat Raj Officer (DPRO) office with his driver Gaurav.

ADO said he called the driver on phone after finishing work but there was no response. Around 4.15 pm, ADO got a call informing him about Gaurav being shot and lying in an injured condition.

The officer then reached the spot along with police officials and admitted Gaurav to the hospital. The driver would also keep ADO pistol but t was also missing.
