Woman, 12-year-old daughter raped by landlord in Delhi’s Nangloi area; no arrest made

A woman and her 12-year-old daughter were allegedly raped by their landlord in Delhi's Old Nangloi on Tuesday.

New Delhi: Weeks after a 9-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and cremated at a crematorium in Delhi, a 12-year-old girl and her mother were subjected to brutality in the national capital. The mother-daughter duo was allegedly raped by their landlord in outer Delhi’s Nangloi area on Tuesday. No arrest has been made yet.

As per deputy commissioner of police (outer), Parvinder Singh, the police control room received a call informing them about the alleged rape on Wednesday and a team was sent to the spot.

PCR call alerted police
He said, “A call was received at the Nangloi police station that a woman and her daughter were raped by their landlord in the Nangloi area. The caller stated that both were admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital. “

The police said that initially, doctors refused to examine the duo and agreed to the examination only after the cops reached there. The details of the medical exams have not been revealed yet.

The minor girl and her mother were counselled after the incident and their statements were recorded. As per the woman’s statement, they moved to the suspect’s house around three months ago. The woman did not have an Aadhaar card before she moved to Nangloi, and had added the new address to her card recently, Hindustan Times reported.

Woman stepped out to clear her head
On Tuesday evening, the woman was on the first floor of the house when the accused allegedly raped her. The woman, who was shocked after the incident, stepped out of the flat to compose herself. While the woman was out, the accused and his son allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Based on the woman’s statement, the police have booked the accused under sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Further probe is underway.
